Rocket Software is seeking a highly motivated Associate Technical Support Engineer to join our dynamic team. You’ll be at the forefront of providing technical support for CORBA products like Orbix, VisiBroker, OpenFusion, and TAO. • 2+ years of technical support experience in a software environment
• Experience with CORBA and client/server integration architectures
• Familiarity with multiple OS/platforms including Windows, Linux, AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, and Mainframe
• Strong knowledge of cloud, container, and virtual environments (AWS, Azure, Docker)
• Proficiency with network protocols like TCP/IP, IIOP, SOAP, REST
• Expertise in C++, Java, COBOL, and security concepts (SSL/TLS)
• Ability to troubleshoot connectivity/performance issues using network analysis tools like Wireshark and tcpdumps
• Strong problem-solving skills, with a customer-focused approach
• Ability to work independently and with limited direction to resolve technical challenges

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support for Rocket’s CORBA products (Orbix, VisiBroker, OpenFusion JacORB, TAO)
• Test and verify software hotfixes and updates for customer environments
• Collaborate closely with Rocket Product Development to identify and resolve defects
• Offer technical assistance during customer meetings and technical inquiries
• Troubleshoot complex application issues and provide level II support
• Research and develop reproducible cases using knowledge bases and documentation
• Prepare and recommend technical solutions for customers
• Collaborate with internal teams to improve the product support process
• Provide on-call support outside business hours as required
• Contribute to training content and support the development of junior engineers
