Software Development Engineer – Amazon

Job Description
Amazon’s Employee Services Technology team is seeking a Software Development Engineer to help revolutionize how millions of Amazonians receive HR support. This role focuses on building intelligent, AI-powered solutions using AWS services to deliver personalized and efficient HR support at Amazon scale.
You will work on the Unified Service Console (USC) platform, integrating AI-driven employee relationship management with seamless workflows to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual processes
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Development: Lead architectural design and development of scalable, maintainable platform features aligned with AWS best practices.
- AI Solutions: Architect and implement AI-powered solutions for predictive support and automated workflows.
- Systems Integration: Develop secure and compliant integrations between multiple HR systems.
- Mentorship: Coach junior engineers, set coding standards, and promote engineering best practices.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with product, business, and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Operational Excellence: Implement monitoring, alerting, and continuous improvement measures for system reliability.
- Technical Initiatives: Lead strategic architecture plans (3YAP) and balance long-term vision with immediate impact.
A Day in the Life
- Write maintainable, testable code and participate in code reviews.
- Design systems for Amazon-scale problems and present solutions to the team.
- Review operational health and propose improvements.
- Meet with customers to gather requirements and adjust priorities.
- Research new technologies and share findings with the team.
- Troubleshoot and resolve customer-reported issues.
- Receive mentorship from senior and principal engineers.

Basic Qualifications
- 1+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
