Requirements

The Principal DevOps Deployment Automation Engineer is a hands-on leadership role responsible for defining and executing deployment automation strategies. You will lead the development of robust automation frameworks, guide cloud migrations to AWS, and collaborate across engineering and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable deployment systems.


Key Responsibilities

  • Drive technical strategy and execution for deployment automation initiatives
  • Lead migration of on-premise workloads to AWS
  • Design and deliver a scalable automation framework using proven open-source or commercial tools
  • Guide infrastructure movement techniques, including bulk application migrations
  • Act as a liaison between engineering teams and internal stakeholders
  • Develop detailed project work plans within application/platform scope
  • Define and track metrics for effectiveness, coverage, and regression cost reduction
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers
  • Advocate adoption of automation infrastructure across development teams
  • Contribute hands-on via coding, code reviews, design reviews, and technical decision-making

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (4 years) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field

Experience & Technical Skills

  • 10–15 years of development experience (Java, Shell, Ruby; Perl is a plus)
  • Strong experience writing automation scripts to streamline workflows
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools: Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, Harness, TeamCity
  • Expertise in containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with distributed systems and strong Linux shell scripting (PowerShell is a plus)
  • Cloud experience with AWS, OCI, or Azure for scalable deployment pipelines
  • Configuration management experience: Ansible (preferred), Salt, Puppet
  • Knowledge of versioning, packaging, and hands-off software installation practices
  • Experience with deployment tools such as Harness, CloudBees CD, or UrbanCode
  • Familiarity with Maven2 and artifact repositories (JFrog Artifactory, Nexus)
  • Proven ability to deploy code rapidly and reliably across multiple environments
