DevOps Engineer – Vice President | Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC)

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) is seeking an experienced and results-driven DevOps Engineer to play a vital role in bridging the gap between development and operations.

As a senior member of the technology organization, you will collaborate with software engineering, QA, infrastructure, and security teams to design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines and automated infrastructure. Your expertise will ensure secure, compliant, and high-performing deployments across mission-critical financial applications.

1. CI/CD Pipeline Management

• Design, develop, and maintain Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to streamline and enhance software delivery.

2. Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

• Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Ansible to automate provisioning, configuration, and scaling of infrastructure.

3. Monitoring & Logging

• Develop comprehensive monitoring and logging solutions to ensure reliability, visibility, and performance of production environments.

4. Security & Compliance

• Collaborate with security teams to embed security best practices and maintain compliance standards aligned with financial industry regulations.

5. Cloud & On-Premise Infrastructure

• Manage and maintain Azure Cloud and on-premise environments (OpenShift/VMs), ensuring high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery readiness.

6. Automation & Scripting

• Write and maintain automation scripts using Python, Bash, or similar languages to optimize and automate routine operations.

7. Cross-Team Collaboration

• Partner with development, QA, security, and operations teams to ensure seamless application delivery and establish DevOps best practices.

8. Environment Stability

• Participate in the DevOps on-call rotation to monitor alerts, respond to incidents, and improve system observability and resilience.

9. Tooling & Platform Development

• Contribute to building and enhancing engineering platforms that improve developer productivity and streamline operations.

10. Release & Disaster Recovery

• Deploy scheduled releases and support Disaster Recovery (DR) drills as part of the organization’s continuity plan.

Qualifications & Skills

• 7+ years of experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) roles.
• Proven expertise in CI/CD pipeline development and management.
• Strong proficiency in Terraform and Ansible (Infrastructure as Code).
• Advanced scripting skills in Python, Bash, or equivalent.
• Solid experience managing Azure Cloud and OpenShift/VM-based infrastructure.
• Deep understanding of monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
• Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks in regulated financial environments.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills across multi-disciplinary teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
