Viasat Hiring Software Engineer Intern in Carlsbad - E2E DevOps Services, AWS GCP, Machine Learning, Paid Internship

Viasat is seeking a Software Engineer Intern to join their E2E DevOps Services team in Carlsbad, California. For over 35 years, Viasat has been shaping how consumers, businesses, governments, and militaries around the globe communicate, delivering connections with the capacity to change the world.

The E2E DevOps Services team's mission is to provide reliable internet service to customers around the globe, connecting the unconnected in many parts of the world that are getting access to the internet for the first time. The team also helps people stay connected while working or doing remote learning from home, or while flying on major airlines for business or leisure.

As a software engineer intern on the Global Broadband Operations team, you will work on software used every day by users and develop future software solutions that tackle some of the most pressing problems in the company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take part in the development of customer-focused software solutions
• Get direct feedback from users and iterate on products
• Work with a team that fully embraces the agile methodology
• Collaborate with other teams within Viasat to build robust and integrated solutions
• Have significant impact and influence on the direction of the products and technology stack
• Employ machine learning techniques where applicable

Internship Program Details:

• Work onsite at a Viasat office location for the duration of the internship
• Housing and relocation assistance available pending eligibility
• Two cohort options based on academic calendars:
  • Cohort 1: May 18, 2026 – August 14, 2026
  • Cohort 2: June 22, 2026 – September 18, 2026
• Pre-determined compensation based on role, location, and final graduation date

Educational Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field
• Final graduation date must fall between December 2026 and August 2027

Experience:

• Software development experience through coursework, projects, or previous internships
• Debugging and troubleshooting experience

Technical Skills:

• Familiar with several programming languages including Python
• Experience with software development, debugging, and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with cloud platforms including AWS and GCP
• Understanding of CI/CD and relevant technologies such as Docker and GitHub Actions
• Working knowledge of SQL
• Working knowledge of GitHub
• Interest in applying machine learning techniques to solve real-world problems
