Optum are seeking an experienced Associate DevOps Engineer with strong expertise in cloud technologies, Python development, infrastructure automation, and CI/CD engineering. The ideal candidate will help design scalable backend systems while contributing to technical leadership and engineering excellence.

This role offers an opportunity to work with modern DevOps ecosystems, AI-integrated platforms, and enterprise-grade infrastructure in a fast-paced environment.

• Design and develop scalable backend services using Python frameworks such as FastAPI and Flask
• Build reusable automation frameworks and internal engineering tools
• Implement scalable APIs and distributed microservices architectures

Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering

• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
• Provision and maintain secure cloud infrastructure environments
• Work extensively with AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, EC2, and DynamoDB

DevOps & CI/CD

• Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and similar platforms
• Improve deployment reliability, testing automation, and observability practices
• Support containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes

Technical Leadership

• Mentor and guide software engineering teams
• Conduct code reviews and architecture discussions
• Establish best practices for software quality, scalability, and operational excellence
• Collaborate with product, platform, and architecture teams to deliver enterprise solutions

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience

Experience Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• 3+ years of CI/CD implementation experience
• 2+ years of Python development experience in production systems
• 2+ years of API and microservices development experience
• 1+ year of engineering leadership experience
• 1+ year of Terraform experience
• 1+ year of AWS cloud experience
• 1+ year of Docker and Kubernetes experience
• Experience working with AI/ML or LLM-based systems
• Experience building reusable developer platforms and automation frameworks
