Requirements
- Ensure compliance with national and local environmental regulations, contractual obligations, and Amazon policies.
- Support business expansion by conducting environmental due diligence and permitting reviews.
- Collaborate with engineering, construction, and operations teams to promote an environmentally responsible culture.
- Maintain and ensure compliance with Amazon’s Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
- Monitor and evaluate contractor, consultant, and employee work for adherence to Amazon standards.
- Develop, analyze, and forecast environmental metrics, identifying and mitigating risks.
- Conduct environmental audits to drive continuous improvement.
- Establish collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to manage environmental risks.
- Submit time-sensitive environmental reports to regulatory authorities.
- Conduct environmental investigations, prepare regulatory reports, and coordinate corrective and preventive actions.

The AWS Environmental team plays a crucial role in supporting AWS’s global growth while ensuring compliance across AWS facilities, including data centers and customer-facing enterprises. The team is responsible for developing and implementing AWS’s global environmental programs.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, geology, geography, biology, chemistry, or a related field.
- Experience in environmental compliance, auditing, permitting, and waste management.
- Knowledge of environmental management systems and national, regional, and local environmental regulations.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) and strong proficiency in Telugu (Hindi is a plus).
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including interaction with senior leadership.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, provide clear updates, and escalate issues in a fast-paced environment.
- Analytical skills with a track record of implementing practical environmental improvements.
- Project management experience and proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and Windows OS.
