Job Description

This is a hands-on AWS + Linux DevOps role aimed at engineers with ~1 year of experience. The focus is on day-to-day cloud operations, automation, CI/CD, security basics, and infrastructure reliability. It is more practical and operational than theoretical.

You will work closely with development teams to support deployments, automate infrastructure, and maintain stable AWS environments.

Requirements

  • User/group management, permissions, cron jobs
  • Disk, memory, CPU monitoring
  • Commands like top, df, lsblk, chmod, chown

AWS Core Services (Must-Have)

  • EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, RDS
  • Public/private subnets
  • Security groups and basic networking
  • EC2 access via SSH, SSM, EC2 Connect
  • AMIs, EBS snapshots, backups

Networking Fundamentals

  • VPC design basics
  • Route tables, IGW, NAT Gateway
  • Traffic flow understanding
  • Security groups vs NACLs

IAM & Security

  • IAM users, roles, policies
  • CloudTrail for auditing
  • AWS Config for compliance basics
  • Least-privilege access mindset

CI/CD & Source Control

  • Git fundamentals (clone, commit, push, PRs)
  • GitHub or AWS CodeCommit
  • Basic pipelines using GitHub Actions or CodeBuild

Infrastructure as Code

  • CloudFormation (YAML) or Terraform
  • Automating EC2, VPC, IAM resources
  • Understanding state and template structure

Monitoring & Logging

  • CloudWatch metrics, logs, alarms
  • Identifying performance and deployment issues

Containers & Orchestration

  • Dockerfiles, building and running containers
  • Kubernetes basics: pods, deployments, services
  • Conceptual understanding (not advanced K8s admin)

Serverless Basics

  • Lambda functions
  • S3 event triggers
  • IAM permissions for Lambda

Cost & Documentation

  • AWS Budgets, Cost Explorer
  • Cost optimization awareness
  • Clear documentation in tickets and wikis

Skill Level Expectation (Important)

This role expects:

  • Hands-on AWS Console usage
  • Practical Linux experience
  • Basic but real CI/CD exposure
  • Beginner–intermediate Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Working knowledge, not expert level

This is not a fresher role, but also not a senior DevOps role.

Who This Role Is Best For

This role is ideal if you:

  • Have ~1 year experience or a strong internship background
  • Are comfortable with AWS + Linux
  • Want a real DevOps role, not just monitoring
  • Have built small CI/CD pipelines
  • Want to grow into Senior DevOps / Cloud Engineer

Not ideal if:

  • You only know theory
  • You’ve never used AWS hands-on
  • You want pure Kubernetes or pure SRE roles
