Job Description
Optiv is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Application Security Intern to join its cybersecurity team in Bangalore, Karnataka. This internship is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Application Security, working with cutting-edge tools and methodologies under the mentorship of experienced cybersecurity professionals.
An Application Security Intern at Optiv will participate in various security initiatives, training programs, and live projects related to web, API, and mobile application security. The selected intern will be trained in modern cybersecurity concepts such as AI security, API security, and SBOM (Software Bill of Materials), gaining exposure to real-world application security practices.
Requirements
- Develop technical competence to actively contribute to ongoing Application Security initiatives.
- Take ownership of assigned security projects and deliver consistent, high-quality results.
2. Collaboration & Teamwork
- Work closely with senior team members to solve application security challenges.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions, meetings, and peer-learning activities.
3. Learning & Development
- Undergo formal training sessions on Optiv’s service offerings, methodologies, and security delivery processes.
- Continuously learn new skills, tools, and trends in the cybersecurity domain.
4. Research & Awareness
- Stay updated on emerging application security threats, tools, and frameworks.
- Gain expertise in the OWASP Top 10 (Web, API, and Mobile).
5. Knowledge Sharing
- Engage in team meetings, one-on-ones, and internal discussions to share insights and learnings.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bug Bounty Experience: Must have prior participation in bug bounty programs (with a published bug bounty profile preferred).
- Web Application Penetration Testing: Knowledge and hands-on experience in identifying and exploiting web vulnerabilities.
- Security Knowledge: Strong understanding of OWASP Top 10, API security, and mobile app security.
- Programming: Working knowledge of at least one common enterprise programming language.
- Bug Bounty Platforms: Experience with platforms like Bugcrowd or HackerOne is an advantage.
- Certifications: Willingness to pursue eWPT, OSCP, or OSWE certifications.
- Technical Foundation: Understanding of computer science, software engineering, and DevOps concepts.
- Documentation Skills: Ability to write clear and effective technical reports and documentation.
