About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Software Engineer Intern (DevOps) to join our engineering and platform operations team. This internship offers hands-on experience working with cloud-native infrastructure, CI/CD automation, developer platforms, and modern software delivery practices.
As part of the DevOps engineering team, you will help build and improve systems that accelerate software delivery, automate infrastructure operations, and enhance developer productivity across mission-focused programs.
Key Responsibilities
CI/CD & Automation
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines to support rapid and reliable software delivery
- Develop automation scripts and engineering tools to reduce manual operational effort
- Contribute to developer productivity and platform engineering initiatives
- Support software delivery workflows and deployment automation practices
Cloud & Infrastructure Engineering
- Support cloud-native applications and deployment environments
- Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, Bicep, Ansible, or CloudFormation
- Work with Docker containers and Kubernetes orchestration platforms
- Help troubleshoot deployment, operational, and infrastructure-related issues
Monitoring & Observability
- Support monitoring, logging, and operational dashboard initiatives
- Work with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, ELK/OpenSearch, or Azure Monitor
- Assist engineering teams in identifying and resolving system performance issues
Collaboration & Engineering Support
- Collaborate with software engineers to streamline development workflows
- Participate in Agile development activities, code reviews, and technical discussions
- Contribute scripts, tooling, and automation improvements across engineering systems

Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related technical field
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Go
- Familiarity with Git and modern software development workflows
- Working knowledge of Linux or Windows operating systems
- Understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, and HTTPS
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively within technical teams
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain SECRET security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar development platforms
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes technologies
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, Ansible, or CloudFormation
- Experience writing automation scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts and modern software delivery practices
- Exposure to monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, ELK/OpenSearch, or Azure Monitor
- Understanding of Agile software development methodologies
- Participation in projects, hackathons, research, or coursework involving cloud computing, distributed systems, cybersecurity, or automation
- Active security clearance is a plus
