The Azure Networking team is responsible for designing, constructing, and operating critical foundational network services that set Azure apart from competitors and open new revenue streams. The cloud buildout process is technically complex, requiring scalable, intricate services and tools that accelerate deployments while maintaining high security through role-based access control.

As a Software Engineer, this role involves collaborating with skilled engineers to plan, design, and implement distributed services, automation tools, and frameworks that enhance cloud buildout and operations.

Responsibilities

• Work with stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features.
• Contribute to the identification of dependencies and the development of design documents with minimal oversight.
• Create and implement code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.
• Plan and develop distributed software services, automation tools, and frameworks to expedite cloud buildouts.
• Promote the adoption of best engineering practices and processes across teams.
• Break down larger work items into smaller tasks and provide estimations.
• Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), working on-call to monitor system/product features for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
• Stay updated on developments to improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline with experience in coding languages including, but not limited to:
  • C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• OR equivalent experience

Other Requirements

• Ability to meet Microsoft Cloud Background Check requirements upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND 1+ years of technical engineering experience in:
  • C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with experience in the above programming languages.
