Requirements

The Site Reliability Engineer I at NCR Atleos will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and observability of mission-critical transaction processing and settlement platforms across both on-premises and cloud environments.

This position is ideal for entry-level professionals who have a strong passion for automation, infrastructure monitoring, and incident response, and who wish to grow within a fast-paced production environment. The role involves rotational shift work to support 24×7 operations and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive ongoing system improvements.


Key Responsibilities – Core Duties of the Site Reliability Engineer I

1. Industry Knowledge and IT Operations

  • Basic understanding of Financial Services, Payment Systems, or Settlement Infrastructure.
  • Use ServiceNow or JIRA for incident, service request, and task management workflows.

2. Infrastructure and System Administration

  • Solid foundational knowledge of IT hardware, networking, operating systems, and Active Directory management.
  • Configure and manage web servers such as Microsoft IIS or Apache Tomcat.

3. Cloud and Automation Expertise

  • Work hands-on with major cloud service providersMicrosoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Manage SSL certificates — including issuance, renewal, and secure lifecycle management.
  • Apply scripting and automation skills in PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ansible, .NET, or JavaScript.

4. System Monitoring and Application Performance

  • Ensure high availability and system reliability using enterprise-grade monitoring tools such as Splunk, SolarWinds, AppDynamics, DotCom, Prometheus, Grafana, or NewRelic.
  • Support middleware and automation tools like ActiveBatch, RabbitMQ, UiPath, and Tibco.

5. Infrastructure Design and CI/CD Pipelines

  • Assist in designing scalable, secure, and efficient infrastructure.
  • Implement and monitor Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for seamless application delivery.

6. Security and Compliance

  • Follow industry security best practices, including patching, audit readiness, and secure configuration.
  • Work with security teams to identify and remediate vulnerabilities.

7. 24/7 Operational Support

  • Provide on-call production support for critical systems.
  • Troubleshoot, escalate, and resolve incidents following ITIL best practices.

8. Continuous Improvement and Knowledge Sharing

  • Contribute innovative ideas to reduce alert fatigue, improve system reliability, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and participate in knowledge management initiatives.

Qualifications – Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 0–3 years of experience in infrastructure operations, system administration, or SRE/DevOps roles.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, SolarWinds).
  • Basic scripting experience in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure, or AWS.
  • Understanding of ITIL practices, incident, and change management workflows.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Willingness to work in a 24×7 operational environment and learn continuously.
