Red Hat Careers – Software Engineer Intern

At Red Hat, interns are integral members of our teams — not limited to routine tasks but directly contributing to real-world projects. As a Software Engineer Intern, you will collaborate with experienced mentors and global teams to develop, test, and maintain code across Red Hat products such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and OpenShift.

This internship provides hands-on exposure to leading open source technologies including Ansible, OpenShift, AI, Python, Golang, Java, and JavaScript, while learning Agile methodologies in a collaborative and inclusive environment

• Work closely with mentors to design, develop, and maintain software using Python, Golang, or similar programming languages.
• Add new features, debug, and track issues in RHEL, OpenShift, or other Red Hat products.
• Collaborate with teams in Quality Engineering, Design, Product Management, and Documentation.
• Participate in project discussions and contribute to technical documentation.
• Network and collaborate with a diverse cohort of interns across the global Red Hat ecosystem.

Required Qualifications

• Basic knowledge and passion for Software Engineering.
• Willingness to learn and work with Python, Golang, or similar programming languages.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and curiosity to explore how systems work.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
• Currently enrolled as a full-time student in a tertiary institution.
• Ability to commit to a 6-month internship program (Jan – July 2026).
