Renate Hiring DevOps Engineer Intern in Mumbai - Own Real Infrastructure End-to-End, On-Call Production SRE, Convert to Full-Time at AI Startup

Renate, an AI-native recruitment platform backed by a fast-moving 8-person team in Mumbai, is hiring a DevOps Engineer Intern who will own the entire infrastructure end-to-end. This is not a shadowing or coffee-running internship. You will manage every server, every pipeline, every deployment, and every alert from day one.

You report directly to the founder and are responsible for the rails the entire engineering team ships on. When something breaks, you are the first to know and the first to fix. This role is ideal for a final-year student, fresh graduate, or early-career DevOps engineer who wants real production experience with AWS, Docker, CI/CD, and monitoring stacks in a live startup environment.

• Own all cloud infrastructure end-to-end, including provisioning, configuration, scaling, and cost management on AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or GitLab CI so every engineer can ship safely and quickly
• Manage production deployments across services with zero or near-zero downtime
• Keep servers running 24/7, handling monitoring, alerting, incident response, and post-mortem write-ups
• Harden platform security including secrets management, IAM policies, firewall rules, and SSL/TLS certificate management
• Set up and maintain observability across the stack with Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch, and Sentry
• Automate everything that gets done twice, from backups and provisioning to log rotation
• Manage databases operationally, including backups, replication, restoration drills, and performance tuning
• Coordinate with backend, frontend, and AI engineers to unblock deployments and resolve infrastructure issues
• Track every incident, fix, and change in a shared log reviewed regularly with the founder

• Linux server administration (Ubuntu, Debian, or equivalent)
• Cloud infrastructure experience on AWS, GCP, or Azure (EC2, S3, IAM, networking basics)
• CI/CD pipeline setup and maintenance with GitHub Actions or GitLab CI
• Docker containerization including Dockerfiles, multi-stage builds, and image optimization
• Container orchestration basics with Docker Compose and Kubernetes fundamentals
• Nginx configuration, reverse proxies, load balancing, and SSL/TLS certificate management
• Monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch, Sentry)
• Infrastructure-as-code awareness (Terraform, Pulumi, or equivalent)
• Shell scripting (Bash) and Python for automation
• Git and version control fluency
• Calm temperament under pressure when production goes down

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• 0-2 years of experience (final-year students, fresh grads, and early-career DevOps engineers welcome)
• Genuine hands-on ability -- you have deployed and managed real infrastructure, not just completed tutorials
• A bias for automation over manual intervention
• Security and reliability as first-class concerns in your work
• High ownership, high speed, and comfort with ambiguity in a startup environment
• Willingness to be on call and respond fast when something breaks outside business hours
• Mumbai-based or willing to relocate immediately
• Ability to track your own work and report results without being chased

Nice to Have:

• A homelab, personal cloud setup, or side project with measurable uptime
• Kubernetes in production experience (not just local clusters)
• Terraform, Pulumi, or other IaC tools
• AI/ML workload infrastructure (GPU instances, model serving)
• Cloud cost optimization experience
• Prior internship, freelance, or open-source SRE/infrastructure work
