Site Reliability Engineer – Intern (SRE Intern)

Job Description
The Site Reliability Engineer Intern role at PhonePe provides exposure to large-scale systems, high-availability services, and cloud technologies. You will gain hands-on experience in Linux system administration, automation, networking, databases, and cloud operations.
Key Responsibilities for Site Reliability Engineer Intern
- Assist in Linux/Unix administration and networking management.
- Gain hands-on experience with open-source tools and cloud services.
- Learn IT operations best practices to ensure highly available, reliable services.
- Support troubleshooting for Linux networking (IP, iptables, ipsec).
- Work with MySQL for database management tasks.
- Write automation scripts in Perl or Golang.
- Learn and apply configuration management using SaltStack or equivalent tools.
- Collaborate with senior engineers on system monitoring and automation projects.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
- Strong fundamentals in Linux networking.
- Exposure to cloud services and virtualization (KVM/QEMU).
- Knowledge of container orchestration platforms such as DCOS, Mesos.
- Experience with NoSQL databases (Aerospike).
- Familiarity with Galera clustering, OpenBSD, and data center operations (occasionally).
- Programming knowledge in Perl or Golang.
