PhonePe is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (System Engineer) with strong fundamentals in Linux, networking, cloud infrastructure, and open-source technologies. This role focuses on ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability of one of the world’s largest fintech infrastructures.

The position involves hands-on system operations, automation, incident response, and participation in on-call rotations to keep services always available.

• Administer and manage Linux/Unix-based systems in large-scale environments
• Apply best practices in IT operations to maintain highly available services
• Work with a wide range of open-source tools and cloud services
• Participate in on-call rotations to support 24x7 operations
• Communicate effectively with teams using professional English

Systems, Networking, and Databases

• Strong background in computer networking
• Hands-on experience with Linux networking, including IP, iptables, and IPsec
• Manage and operate MySQL databases
• Experience with MariaDB or Percona is an advantage

Automation and Scripting

• Apply scripting and coding skills using Perl, Python, or Golang
• Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as SaltStack
• Support infrastructure operations using automation-first approaches

Cloud and Infrastructure

• Hands-on experience with private cloud environments
• Exposure to virtualization technologies and infrastructure operations

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Experience implementing cloud services on Linux using KVM or QEMU
• Familiarity with container orchestration technologies
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases, especially Aerospike
• Proficiency in Perl and Golang
• Understanding of Galera cluster operations
• Experience with data center–related activities
