Software Engineer

As a software engineer at Maersk, you will design, develop, test, deliver, maintain, and improve business applications as part of a team. You may work across the full stack or specialize in frontend or backend development, contributing throughout the entire software development lifecycle. The role emphasizes efficient code production using open-source frameworks and patterns.

Maersk is hiring software engineers with strong web front-end skills to join the Visibility Platform team. This platform processes large volumes of data, and this role offers an opportunity to work with that dataset and innovate ways to present relevant information to users in the right context.

About the Role

In this position, you will work on a greenfield project aimed at improving visibility into containerized shipments, covering attributes such as delays, extra charges, and emissions. Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with UX and product teams to refine designs and ensure solutions effectively address user needs.
• Designing API structures that efficiently and effectively support front-end views.
• Building views with a focus on semantic HTML, responsive design, and rendering performance.
• Following Maersk’s design system conventions to maintain consistency across multiple micro-applications.
• Ensuring best practices in testing, performance profiling, and other quality measures through automated checks.
• Actively participating in code reviews to encourage learning and knowledge sharing among team members.
• Working inclusively with colleagues across different geographies, time zones, and cultures.

About You

We expect candidates for this role to have:

• Strong expertise in semantic HTML, modern CSS, and plain JavaScript.
• Proficiency in responsive design principles.
• Experience with at least one modern front-end framework (React, Vue, Svelte, or Angular) and willingness to work with Vue.js.
• Familiarity with build systems such as Webpack.
• Experience with test frameworks like Jest and confidence in writing unit and integration tests.
• Understanding of Node.js and the npm ecosystem, while being mindful of dependency management.
• Openness to exploring other parts of the tech stack and learning new skills.
• Focus on developer productivity, utilizing modern tools like GitHub Copilot to improve quality and efficiency.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and an ability to write clean, maintainable code.
• Experience in logistics and supply chain domains is a bonus but not required.
