Software Engineer - Backend

BrowserStack is looking for a passionate and talented Software Engineer to join their backend engineering team. In this role, you will design, develop, document, and support systems and applications used by a large number of developers. You will work in an agile team and collaborate with engineers across teams to build scalable solutions for key business initiatives. You will also have the opportunity to drive best practices, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to product features while ensuring continuous improvement in engineering excellence.

• Design and develop systems and applications with agility and quality
• Own tasks end-to-end from development to production
• Design, implement, and launch key product features
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate closely with other engineers
• Drive best practices and continuous engineering improvements
• Troubleshoot and solve issues related to operating systems or programming languages
• Create prototypes and proofs-of-concept for iterative development
• Collaborate with product development and engineering teams
• Mentor junior engineers in strong design and implementation practices
• Assist in hiring and developing technical talent

Desired Experience:

• 1 to 3 years of software development or programming experience with scalable backends
• Experience in developing stable and performant software at scale
• Proficient in at least one of the following languages: Ruby, Node.js, Python, Java, C/C++
• Strong knowledge of operating systems, databases, and networking concepts
• Ability to work on Windows and Linux platforms below the application layer (e.g., file systems, kernels, custom installations, scripting, internal APIs)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and creativity in diagnosing issues
• Startup mentality, high willingness to learn, and hard-working attitude
